Your privacy is important to Dallas Pets Alive ("DPA"). This Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy") explains how DPA collects, uses, discloses, and protects Personal Information that you provide through the areas defined below. This Privacy Policy is directed toward U.S. residents.

This Privacy Policy applies to the following channels (collectively our “Digital Channels”):

Online Donations
If you donate to DPA on our Website, we collect Personal Information that may include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and limited financial information, such as your credit card information, to process your donation.


Online Purchases
When you make a purchase on DPA’s Site, we collect Personal Information that may include your name, address, telephone number, email address, shipping and billing addresses, order history. We also collect limited financial information, such as your credit card information, to process your payment.


Adoption Applications
If you apply to adopt an animal from DPA, we collect Personal Information from you that may include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, age, occupation, driver’s license number, and felony criminal conviction history. We also collect limited financial information, such as your credit card information, to process your adoption fee.


Employment or Volunteer Participation
If you apply to work or volunteer with DPA, we will collect Personal Information related to your desired role. This may include your name, address, telephone number, email, address, emergency contact information, employment history, felony criminal convictions, professional skills, and driver’s license number.


Third-Party Fundraising Campaigns, Promotions or Events
We may use or interact with third-party services to conduct fundraising campaigns, promotions, or events. In these instances, we may receive Personal Information, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, and order information. We may also receive limited financial information, such as your credit card information, to process donations, payments or registration fees. We also may receive your Personal Information if you respond to a cause-related marketing campaign or other promotion benefiting DPA that is conducted by a third-party.


Social Media Platforms
We may collect limited information about you from Social Media Platforms. For example, we may receive information about you when you interact with DPA’s social media pages (e.g. liking us on Facebook or following us on Instagram). Your interactions with social media companies and the use of their features are governed by their respective privacy policies.

User data does not include Personal Information, but does include information like city/location, browser and platforms used, and aggregated demographic information from users’ Google profiles, such as gender, age-bracket and interests.

DPA does not sell Personal Information of donors, volunteers, or event participants. To further our mission, your Personal Information may be shared with:
Outside Contractors
DPA may employ independent contractors, vendors and suppliers (collectively, "Outside Contractors") to provide specific services and products, such as to help us perform statistical analysis, send you postal mail, process donations, or send email. Access to your Personal Information by these Outside Contractors is limited to the information reasonably necessary in order for the Outside Contractors to perform their limited function for us. We also require that these Outside Contractors protect the privacy of your Personal Information consistent with this Privacy Policy, and not use or disclose your Personal Information for any purpose other than providing us with products or services for which we contracted.

Volunteers
We may share limited Personal Information, such as contact information, with volunteers who are assisting DPA and who require the information as part of their duties. Volunteers who are entrusted with Personal Information execute confidentiality agreements with the DPA prior to receiving any such information.


Memorial and Honor Giving
You may choose to honor someone by donating to DPA in their name. Once your gift is received and you have requested a notification be sent to the honoree or family, DPA will send an acknowledgement to the honoree or family to inform them of your gift. The amount of money donated through memorial or honor donations is kept confidential, but the individual (or their immediate family in the case of a memorial donation) may be provided with the name of the individual who donated in honor of their loved one, whether in the acknowledgment itself or at the request of the honoree/family.


Other
DPA may use and disclose your Personal Information as we believe to be necessary or appropriate: (a) to comply with applicable law, to respond to requests from public and government authorities, to cooperate with law enforcement, or for other legal reasons; (b) to protect our rights, privacy, safety or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you or others. We may share information that has been de-identified or aggregated, or any other technical information, without limitation.


COMMUNICATION TO CHILDREN
Our Digital Channels are not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 16 through our Digital Channels. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of 16 has provided Personal Information to us, please contact us at privacy@dallaspetsalive.org and we will take steps to delete that information from our databases. If we become aware that a child under 16 has provided us with Personal Information, we will take steps to remove such information.


LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES
The Website may contain links to other websites not owned, controlled, or affiliated with DPA.


If you are using our Website and click a link to another site, you will leave our Website and this Policy will not apply to your use of and activity on those other sites. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
DPA takes reasonable and appropriate precautions to ensure that user information is protected from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.


We restrict access to user Personal Information to those individuals who reasonably need access to perform their job functions, such as our third-party email service, and key staff.

DPA provides visitors to our Digital Channels with a secure experience when donating through them. We work with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) compliant vendors. When Personal Information is transmitted, it is protected through the use of industry-standard security technology, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

Even with these measures in place, users should use special caution when using publicly accessible computer terminals or transmitting Personal Information over unsecured wireless networks.

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. Please refer to the date at the top of this page to determine when this Privacy Policy was last revised. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will become effective upon posting of the revised policy on the Website.
